Award-winning grass-covered pavilion in India constructed with over 1, 000 recycled pallets. Pen-sieve is no longer standing though it continues to be recognized in awards, such as its nomination in the Kohler Bold Design Awards 2016. Recycled pallets were stacked together in an asymmetrical shape inspired by the hundreds of stone ruins that dot the capital. The large 800-square-foot installation framed a public gathering space that also included solar-powered furniture that lit up when people sat on them and a hundred fiber-optic sculptures that used motion sensors to light up at night.

Banana trees are recycled into vegan “leather” wallets in Micronesia. Your next wallet could be made from a more ethical and Eco-friendly alternative—banana fiber. Banana tree waste is up-cycled to stylish and sturdy vegan leather wallets. The farmers must cut down the plant every year to promote fruit production. The mass amounts of banana fiber waste are typically left on the ground to biodegrade now. With this new technology, banana fiber can be up-cycled to produce strong and water-resistant wallets.

Recycle - the possibilities are endless. World’s largest shipping container shopping mall is in Seoul. The 5, 300-square-meter pop-up mall was constructed from 200 large modular containers and can be easily modified, moved, or dismantled as needed. The 200 shipping containers house 70 stores, 20 restaurants, and a third-floor roof terrace. The use of prefabricated shipping containers lowered construction cost and reduced construction time to just 5 months.

The first Wattway solar road pilot in America has popped up in rural west Georgia. Ray C. Anderson Foundation is testing renewable technologies along an 18-mile stretch of road, and recently installed 538 square feet of Colas‘ Wattway solar road system near the border between Georgia and Alabama. According to Wattway by Colas, the average expected output is anticipated to be 7, 000 kilowatt-hours per year, which will help power the center.The United States solar market grew an astounding 95 percent in 2016, installing an extraordinary 14.5 gigawatts!!
UPS has successfully conducted a field trial of a delivery drone that launches from the roof of a UPS truck in an effort to cut costs and waiting times. The idea is that the drone can handle out-of-the-way stops, while the driver continues making other deliveries by road. Instead of drones launching from a fixed base of operations, the UPS trial makes the launch pad mobile in the form of the roof of a delivery truck.

New solar canopy provides both shade and clean energy. It is a light-reflecting canopy that creates shade and directs sunlight to a photo-voltaic panel. The mirrors rotate automatically with the movement of the sun. The position of each of Sun& Shade’s mirrors can be set independently, allowing them to be used to not only control shading and the generation of electricity, but also to create different patterns or even letters from the shadows they cast.
